LOSRA President, Dave Galbreath, presents checks to Fish Contest winners

Well, summer arrived, and left just as quickly as it came.  Fishing was fairly good all summer. Quite a few bass were caught, but a lot in the 12” and 13” size.  This is a good sign for the future. The weed growth, mainly the celery weed, slowed down the fishing in the last month.  Over all, fishing was good.

 

The winners of this year’s Adult Fishing Contest are:  Jeanette Cowdrey with a very nice 27 ¼ inch walleye that she boated one day before the end of the contest.  Jeanette is the first female to win in the Adult Contest, and the first female on the LOSRA Fishing Wall of Fame.  WAY TO GO, JEANETTE.  Andrew Mangiapane landed a nice 29 ¼ inch Pike, and Tom Lukosavich, boated a 20 ½ inch bass, that somehow held up from June 3^rd.

Each winner received a check for $100, a plaque noting their achievement, and their name on the Fishing Wall of Fame.

 

3^rd Annual Lake Ogemaw Bass Tournament

 On Saturday, August 27^th, 65 bass fisherman in 25 boats tried their fishing skills in the 3^rd Annual Lake Ogemaw Bass Tournament.  Although there were some nice fish boated, the lake did not surrender many large fish.  Approximately ten boats didn’t bother to weigh in any fish.  A special THANK YOU to Dave Kepley and Lake Ogemaw Marina for the use of their facilities, Ka-Jac’s Party Store for donating the Largest Fish Award, and the LOSRA Kitchen Crew for the hotdogs and drinks at the awards presentation.  The Lake Ogemaw Bass Tournament directors, Bob Rea, Mickey Badalamenti, Mike Reid, and Dave Kepley, also deserve kudos for their work in organizing the tournament and making sure everything went smoothly, which it did. Here are the results:  

1st Place winner of $175.00 with 5 fish totaling 17.04 lbs.	2nd Place winner of $150.00 with five fish totaling 12.92 lbs.:

The winners of the tournament, were repeat winners, and defended their title well.  Congratulations!!
